I built my first Web page in 1995. It said, Hello World. After uploading the page to a host server, I opened my Browser and accessed the page via the WWW and WOW there it was, Hello World, for anyone with access to the Internet to see. I was hooked.

Soon after that I developed a Construction Directory which became very successful within a few months. After seeing the site, I was contacted by the chief editor, Richard Korman, of Engineering News-Record magazine (a McGraw Hill publication). Richard wanted to discuss my views concerning the future of the Internet. The August 21, 1995 issue of the ENR magazine had an article titled, “Industry swells on the Internet” which made mention of my views about the future of the WWW. I knew when the August issue was in the hands of its subscribers. My phone started ringing and the site went crazy with visitors.

When I started I had very little experience in using a computer and my typing skills were worse than terrible. As for writing Web pages, I had no experience whatsoever. I had read a few chapters of a book written by Laura Lemay titled “Teach Yourself Web Publishing With HTML in 14 Days"”. I saw an opportunity to better myself and I'm glad I took advantage of it.

In addition to helping myself, on January 27, 1999, I created and launched wwww.craneaccidents.com which is a Godsend to construction and other industries that use cranes.

That was then....There were few tools and online help was hard to come by. Nevertheless, the WWW exploded in growth to what it is today. Many have become millionaires and multi-millionaires during the dotcom era.

This is now.... There are tools galore and no shortage of online help.

I predict.... The next big growth explosion will be an all out effort to reach Cell Phone users. The recent sell-out of the iPhone is a clear indication of what's coming.
